Our Philosophy
At Desert Bloom Housing, we believe recovery is possible for everyone. Our eligibility criteria are designed not to exclude, but to ensure each resident enters an environment that supports long-term recovery. We owe it to you, your housemates, and our community to maintain a safe, stable, and accountable home.
Who We Welcome
We welcome adults who are serious about recovery and ready to engage in a supportive, structured living environment. Resident criteria:
- Age 18 or older
- Commitment to sobriety, including abstaining from THC and CBD. Minimum 30 days of sobriety encouraged prior to move-in.
- Negative UA test at intake and agreement to random testing
- Medical stability, or active engagement with outside providers for ongoing health needs
- Ability to safely participate in shared living without posing a risk to self or others
- Independent daily living skills, including hygiene, meals, and basic self-care
- Active recovery participation, which may include:
- Group recovery meetings
- Individual therapy or counseling
- A sponsor, mentor, or recovery coach
- Background checks are reviewed with care and fairness
- Registered sex offenders cannot be accepted as per WAQRR guideline
- Violent crimes and arson are reviewed individually with attention to safety and fit
- Fixed income such as SSI, SSDI, Social Security, disability pay, Veteran Pay, vouchers, or agency funding
- Receive at least $950 monthly if self-pay
We understand recovery isn’t always a straight line. If setbacks occur, our focus is on safety, re-engagement, and support.
Program Costs
- Weekly program fee: $200
- Monthly program fee: $800
- One-time intake fee: $300
We work closely with case managers and funding partners to ensure finances don’t block access to housing.
Life in Our Homes
- Shared living built on cooperation and mutual respect
- Weekly house meetings to strengthen accountability and community
- Rotating chores to keep our homes clean, welcoming and promote accountability.
- Purpose requirement: within 30 days, residents are expected to be working, enrolled in school, or engaged in community service
- Prescribed and over-the-counter medications are permitted but must be stored in personal lockboxes. Residents using MAT must be actively engaged with an outside provider.
- Relapse is addressed with safety, dignity, and a structured re-engagement plan. Details are available in our Relapse Policy.
- Each house is gender-specific
Structure may feel challenging at first, but it’s what helps recovery take root and grow.
